52 – At the Currency Exchange

In this episode, we are going to learn some useful sentences in order to exchange money, and the regular Conditional of the verbs in Portuguese.

Experts usually advise avoiding exchanging money at a hotel or airport, unless you have no other choice, because the exchange rates at these places tend to be higher.

O caixa – Pois não?
Gabriela – Gostaria de trocar alguns dólares. Qual é a taxa de câmbio de hoje?
O caixa – Vou verificar. Hoje o dólar está a R$2,00.
Gabriela – Preciso trocar 100 dólares, por favor.
O caixa – Aqui estão R$200,00. Por favor, assine este recibo.
Gabriela – Obrigada!
O caixa – Não há de quê!

  1. I began my study of Brazilian portuguese with Rosetta Stone. It was a very effective beginner programme; but when I completed it I needed to build on that foundation to advance my newly acquired portuguese language skills. I searched for a long time, and really hit the jackpot when I found BrazilianPodClass! What a thoughtful, instructive, and interesting programme of lessons you offer! I have visited Brazil many times, but never learnt the language. Now I so look forward to my next visit when I will be able to surprise my friends, falando portugues!

    Muito obrigado!
