Pero Vaz de Caminha, Portuguese explorer who accompanied Pedro Álvares Cabral in the discovery of Brazil, wrote what is considered by many to be one of the most accurate and detailed accounts of the discovery of Brazil in his Carta de Pero Vaz de Caminha.
